The Mi and Smartmi Imiomi Smart TVs have been priced in India since Thursday, July 1. Televisions under both line-ups have experienced an increase in prices due to a shortage of global procurement system. Xiaomi has confirmed that there will be a price increase of between 3 and 6 percent on various models. In a statement sent by email to India Today Tech, Xiaomi confirmed that the cost is rising due to rising prices for major items on smartphones, smart TVs and other gadgets.
These items include - chipsets, display panels, display driver, rear panels, battery etc. However, the company had recently increased the price of its less expensive Redmi Note 10 smartphone.
"Over the past one year, we have seen shortages throughout the procurement process. Due to poor service delivery, many devices in Smartphones, Smart TVs and other electronic gadgets have seen a steady increase in their prices," a statement from Xiaomi read.
The statement also called for an increase in shipping costs, saying it affected almost all technology players, including Xiaomi.
“This, combined with the unprecedented increase in export tariffs, has had an impact on almost all technology players, including us. While we have tried to find increasing costs, some of our products have seen an increase in prices. We also anticipate a 3-6% increase in the prices of our smart TVs from July 1 onwards, ”the statement read.
Xiaomi has not yet confirmed which smart TV models are experiencing an increase in prices but reports suggest that at least 10 models will now be more expensive. The price increase can be between Rs 5002,000, depending on the model.
